Thankful

Here are seven simple, daily-life activities that were difficult or impossible to do until my shoulder started to recover. Some are still a little dicey. I do not have to worry about never being able to do any of this:

1) Use my left hand to operate the turn signal lever when driving.

2) Put on my bra.

3) Use a can opener.

4) Sleep peacefully.

5) Walk the dog.

6) Push a grocery cart and carry a bag of groceries.

7) Hug my friend.

I look at people, whether friends or strangers, and I don't know what any of them is going through really. I look at older people and don't know what they deal with day in and day out as their bodies get tricky.

I would bet we all know somebody who could pick an item off that list and say, "I will never be able to do that without pain."

I guess my moral here is, if someone does something kind for you or says something kind to you, be thankful and don't take it for granted. You never know what it might have cost them to have that spirit.

I admire that you are showing gratitude at a difficult time like this. Most often than not, many people do not realize how blessed they are when their body is healthy and well. I also remember a time when I was afraid I would never be able to have the same mobility again. But I persevered and I am grateful for all that I have now instead of complaining about what I don't have.
